Abakaliki killings probe to commence

The Human Rights Commission (NHRC) yesterday said it had commenced investigation into allegation of extra-judicial killing of inmates on August 18, 2016.

Security operatives allegedly killed the inmates during an attempted jailbreak at Abakaliki Federal Prison in Ebonyi State. Some inmates also sustained varying degrees of injury.

N4.7b fraud: Obanikoro indicts Ekiti State governor

Barely 24 hours after his detention, former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro has implicated Governor Ayodele Fayose in the N4.745billion wired to a company linked to him by the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA).

The said cash was wired into the company, Sylva Mcnamara within seven months in 2014.

He said N2.23billion was transferred to Fayose out of the slush funds.

He said out of the sum, he handed over $5,377,000 to Fayose in cash and N1.3billion was received by the governor’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele.

NBA executives meets Vice President in The Villa

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday met behind closed doors with the new Executives members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting came at a time the executive is perceived in some quarters to be persecuting the judiciary arm of government with the Department of State Services (DSS) arresting some judges over allegations of corruption.

No official statement has been issued concerning the purpose of the visit and issues discussed at the time of filing this report.
